Accounting

Accounting in Timeora is focused on invoice preparation and invoice lifecycle management. It connects tracked, eligible time with customer-ready invoice records.

What accounting is for

  • Convert approved and eligible tracked time into structured invoice records.
  • Prevent accidental double-billing by marking invoiced entries as protected.
  • Provide traceable invoice history with clear references to the underlying work.
  • Support operational billing reviews before sending invoices to customers.

Accounting areas and their purpose

  • Invoice list: Central overview of created invoices with quick search by invoice number.
  • Create invoice: Select non-invoiced time entries and generate a new invoice number-based record.
  • Invoice detail: Review included entries, totals, and coverage period before sharing.
  • Invoice download: Export invoice content as a customer-facing PDF document.
  • Invoice maintenance: Delete an invoice when necessary to release linked time entries back to non-invoiced state.

How to use accounting effectively

  1. Prepare projects, clients, and activities consistently before invoice creation.
  2. Create invoices only from complete, validated time entries.
  3. Review invoice detail for period, totals, and entry quality before download.
  4. Use reports to cross-check effort distribution and invoice plausibility.
  5. Restrict accounting operations to appropriate manager/admin roles.
